Getting started

What is Jarmer?

A to-do list for real life, on iPhone. It holds the chores, the life admin and the someday list, works out whose turn it is, and puts the one next thing on your lock screen. No streaks, no red badges, and most days you won't need to open it.

Who is it for?

Anyone, on their own or with up to three others: a couple, roommates, a whole house of four. Anything that needs another person stays out of the way until there is one.

How do I get Jarmer?

It's in a private beta on iPhone. Write to hello@jarmer.app to ask to join. The App Store link comes at launch.

How do I get the others in?

Me → Settings → Household → Invite. Send the link by iMessage; tapping it on an iPhone with Jarmer opens straight to joining. You can hand them something real with the invite, so it's waiting when they arrive. A household holds up to four people.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Jarmer is iPhone-only for now. A web version, for anyone at home on Android, is planned after launch.

Day to day

Do I have to open the app every day?

No. Notifications come with their buttons (Done, Snooze, Tomorrow, Hand off), and the lock-screen widget ticks things off with a tap. The app is for when you want to look around.

How many notifications will I get?

At most 8 a day by default, and you can lower it. Nothing during quiet hours (9:30pm to 8am unless you change them) except the evening plan you choose. Every notification says why it was sent: Me → Settings → Recent notifications. You can ask for fewer of any kind there.

What if I have a rough week?

Nothing piles up. Chores that come round when they're getting due simply wait, and skipped repeats never stack. Turn on Rough week (on Me) for seven days of the smallest version of everything. After a few days away, Jarmer asks what to keep instead of showing a backlog.

Why no streaks or points?

Because they turn a hard week into a failure. Jarmer shows a gentle weekly trend instead, never a score, and never anything red for a chore.

Jarmer Plus

What's in Jarmer Plus?

Room for every chore, routine and goal; plans drafted for you, from goals to moving day; answers and drafts when you're stuck; and extras like every palette and Home Assistant. It's $4.99 a month or $34.99 a year. The full comparison is on the pricing page.

Does everyone in the household need to buy it?

No. One purchase covers everyone in the household, up to four people. Whoever buys it, everyone at home gets Plus.

What happens if Plus ends?

Nothing you've made goes away, and everything keeps working. You just can't add more past the free limits until you're back under them, and the planning features stop.

Is there a free trial?

No trial needed: the first goal plan, fitted Moment, draft and look-up are on us, so you can see what Plus does before you decide.

How do I cancel or get a refund?

Plus is bought through the App Store. Cancel in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions, and ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Stuck? Write to support@jarmer.app.

Privacy and your data

What does the AI do?

It sorts what you capture, breaks big things into small steps, plans goals and Moments, drafts the weekly reset and looks things up. It sends the words you type and photos you choose to AI models from Anthropic, and nothing is used to train AI models. Everything it does is a suggestion or has Undo.

Does everyone have to agree to AI help?

Yes. Each person is asked for themselves, and the household's AI help is on only once everyone has said yes. Change your answer any time in Me → Settings → AI help. With it off, everything else works as usual.

What do the others in my household see?

Shared chores, lists and anything you mark as shared. Private tasks and personal goals stay yours and are never sent to anyone else's phone. Your journal is yours alone.

How do I get a copy of my data?

In the app: Me → Settings → Export my data. Or sign in on your account page and export it there.

How do I delete my account?

Me → Settings → Delete my account, or from your account page. If others are in your household, they keep it. If you're the only one, the household and everything in it is deleted.
